

High Prairie Cemetery

Established in the mid‑1800s, High Prairie Cemetery is the final resting place of many early farming families and pioneer residents. It reflects the rich history of this rural community, where family plots quietly tell the stories of hardships faced by early settlers, including epidemics and the challenges of frontier life. Today, High Prairie Cemetery continues to be maintained as a peaceful and respectful place, honoring generations of High Prairie Township residents.
The Leavenworth County Co-Op

The locally owed Leavenworth County Cooperative Association is a member-controlled agricultural cooperative providing fuel, crop protection, fertilizer, and seed/starters. It was founded to serve farmers, rural residents, and businesses in the following counties: Leavenworth, Atchison, Jefferson, Wyandotte, Douglas, Johnson and Platte.


Little Stranger Church

In 1868, early settlers built Little Stranger Church using lumber form local cottonwood trees and volunteer labor. It is known as the oldest wooden church surviving in Kansas. The history behind the church is one of worship, community, hardship, and resilience that stands as a testament to the strength, faith, and unity of the early settlers who built it.
